Refined Sugar (Wasanbon) Making Tour

“Sanju Izutsu Yashiki” is a tourist facility renovated from a merchant house that had been producing soy sauce and sake since the Edo period (1603-1868). You will have an opportunity to experience making Wasanbon, one of the local specialties, in this traditional building.

Udon Noodles Making Tour

Kagawa Prefecture is a drought-prone area with little rainfall and suitable for not rice production but wheat production, the raw material for udon, has long been developed in the area. As a result, some delicious udon has been developed and become one of the best delicious udon noodles in Japan.
You will learn how to make udon from an artisan. The udon noodles will be boiled on the spot and served with tempura for lunch. After lunch, please enjoy shopping.

Ritsurin Garden
After making udon, we will visit Ritsurin Garden.
Ritsurin Garden is the largest Cultural Property Garden in all of Japan, and is an important cultural asset that has been maintained for nearly 400 years. Originally created in the Edo period for the daimyo (feudal lord), the garden features six ponds and thirteen landscaped hills in front of the green vista of Mt. Shiun, along with stunning rock arrangements and a wide variety of beautiful plants. Seasonal flowers and one thousand carefully maintained pine trees create gorgeous scenery that changes throughout the seasons.

Winery Tour

Sanuki Winery is the first winery built in the Shikoku area. The winery mainly uses grapes grown in Kagawa Prefecture, and in recent years, its wines made from grapes improved and cultivated by the Faculty of Agriculture at Kagawa University have become very popular. You can see the production process of "how wine is made" on a factory tour. Also, enjoy wine and juice tasting and shopping.

Yashima
After the winery tour, we will visit Yashima, a national park. Yashima is a table-shaped highland covered with horizontal hard rock formations and partially surrounded by steep cliffs, and is an attractive tourist destination with castle ruins, temples, observatories, and an aquarium.

Fruits Research Institute and Sake Brewery Tour

Agricultural Experiment Station Fuchu Fruit Research Institute has been conducting the cultivation and the environment of fruit trees in Kagawa because of its mild climate and the location that is less prone to encounter natural disasters. The institute cultivates the main fruit trees of Kagawa Prefecture, such as mandarin oranges, grapes, peaches, persimmons, and kiwifruits, and develops the technologies to ensure stable production of high quality fruits as well as some new varieties of fruits. You will be allowed to look around the research facilities.

Ayagiku Sake Brewery is a long-established sake brewery representing Kagawa Prefecture, that has been in business since the Edo period. The building of the brewery is designated as a Tangible Cultural Property of Kagawa Prefecture and still retains its original appearance. You will have a chance to tour the brewery, see the sake brewing process and enjoy sake tasting and shopping.

Paper Fan Making and Boat Race Tour

The Marugame Uchiwa Museum is a great museum of Uchiwa, displaying various kinds of Uchiwas, the reproduction of the production process of bamboo uchiwas by model dolls with detailed gestures, and valuable documents about the history of Marugame Uchiwa. You will see and learn a lot about beautiful Marugame uchiwas.

Boat racing is a unique sport originated in Japan and is one of Japanese public gamblings. You will have an opportunity to watch a boat race at a special facility of the boat race track. The speed and sound of the boats would guarantee you to bring an exciting experience. Of course, you can also purchase boat tickets.
